B&R Stores Agrees To Acquire Allen’s Foods In Hastings

LINCOLN, Neb. August 4, 2020 – B&R Stores has entered into an agreement to purchase the Allen’s Food Store and The Wine Cellar from the Allen family in Hastings, NE. B&R Stores currently operate the Russ’s Market in the Hastings community. The transaction is expected to close by October 1st, 2020.

An Allen’s spokesperson said, “We are happy our long-time discussions with B&R Stores have resulted in this transaction. It was especially important for us to sell to a successful regional retailer that understands the Hastings community and shares many of our corporate values. We wish B&R Stores the very best and will do everything in our power to support them during and after this transaction. Allen’s and The Wine Cellar will retain their names after the sale. Of special importance, we want to communicate our sincere appreciation for the support we have received from our wonderful customers for these many years.”

B&R Stores, Inc. was founded in 1964 by Russ Raybould. The company has grown to include several supermarket banners including Russ’s Market, Super Saver, and Apple Market located in Nebraska and Iowa.
